How we chose the best Beats headphones
We compared the current Beats lineup on sound quality, comfort, battery life, noise cancellation, microphone performance and device compatibility. We also considered practical differences that become apparent during daily use: whether headphones fold for travel, how securely earbuds remain in place and which features work across both Apple and Android devices.
Beats products typically work well with iPhones, but compatibility is no longer exclusively Apple-focused. Several current models support Google Fast Pair, Find My Device and the Beats app on Android. Apple-specific features such as automatic switching and hands-free Siri still vary by model, so buyers should choose based on their devices rather than the Beats badge alone.
1. Beats Studio Pro: the best all-round option
The Studio Pro is the most versatile model in the range. It combines active noise cancellation, transparency mode and personalized spatial audio with both wired and wireless playback. A USB-C connection supports lossless audio from compatible devices and offers three listening profiles for music, entertainment and calls.
Its closed-back fit is useful on flights and commutes, though the ear cups can feel compact compared with roomier audiophile headphones. It is best for someone who wants one Beats model for travel, office work and home listening.
2. Beats Solo 4: lightweight and long-lasting
Choose the Solo 4 if battery life and portability matter more than noise cancellation. Its on-ear design is lighter and less bulky than the Studio Pro, while a rated 50-hour battery makes frequent charging unnecessary. USB-C and 3.5mm connections also provide useful wired options.
The trade-off is isolation. Without ANC, external noise remains noticeable on planes and busy streets. The on-ear pressure can also become uncomfortable during very long sessions, particularly for glasses wearers.
3. Beats Powerbeats Pro 2: built for serious workouts
Powerbeats Pro 2 uses adjustable ear hooks to stay secure during running, lifting and high-intensity training. It adds active noise cancellation and a heart-rate sensor, bringing the design closer to a dedicated fitness wearable. The charging case also supports wireless charging.
These earbuds suit athletes who prioritize stability and long battery life. Their hook design is bulkier than conventional earbuds, however, and some fitness-platform features depend on the connected phone and app.
4. Beats Studio Buds+: compact everyday earbuds
Studio Buds+ is the sensible choice for commuters who want small noise-canceling earbuds without paying for the newest fitness hardware. The compact case fits easily in a pocket, and the earbuds provide strong support for both Apple and Android pairing features.
They lack the ear hooks of the Powerbeats and the Apple H1 chip found in Fit Pro, but their balanced combination of portability, battery life and platform flexibility remains compelling.
5. Beats Fit Pro: secure fit at a lower price
The Fit Pro remains a strong option when discounted. Flexible built-in wingtips provide more stability than ordinary stemless earbuds, while the Apple H1 chip enables convenient features such as automatic switching and hands-free Siri within the Apple ecosystem.
Battery life trails newer alternatives, and the fixed wings can create pressure in smaller ears. For iPhone owners who want compact exercise earbuds without external hooks, though, the Fit Pro strikes a useful middle ground.
